Hey guys Gina here again. Today i want to share my experience with coaching the year 9's . I only coached one time due to me being absent most days. But my first time coaching was with my team partner Eakalafi. I really liked the team that Eakalafi and I were coaching because they were listening and being really respectful towards us.
What Eakalafi did was get the juniors to do a ball passing and running exercise whilst the court was getting set up for a few games of ultra rip. I didn't coach much because Mr Paul told me to watch Eakalafi so I know what to do. Before the game of ultra rip he got the team to play a game called shadow. After the game of shadow, Eakalafi called all the students in to get in a circle. He made up a rule which was "if you're the last person in the circle you have to sing a song for 10 seconds." Anyways, Eakalafi explained to them what they needed to do in the game, we showed a demonstration on how it was played. After the demonstration we put the students in to two different teams. We then got them to start playing. Eakalafi and I were quite surprised with how the juniors were behaving only because we thought they were going to play up and start being naughty. Sometimes I wonder they were behaving only because they were scared of Eakalafi due to him being a very big guy.
In the end everyone enjoyed their game, they had fun playing the game and they enjoyed having eakalafi as a coach for them. There was a few problems though like one of the juniors who weren't listening but that ended up getting sorted out anyways.
